West Ham United

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen speaking to TNT Sports: "I think this season, if we're being honest, we haven't consistently been at a level. We haven't won back-to-back and that's probably because we've had a really good result, really good performance and not followed it up in the next week for whatever reason. Like I said going to Arsenal, winning there, having a really good performance, coming here tonight we had to do exactly the same. It was the same mindset, same energy about it. Regardless of Leicester's league position, we knew it was going to be a difficult game because we knew there was a different expectation on us.

"As an attacker playing more as a nine you're closer in the box, closer for transitions, I think that's a really big thing for the manager. Me and Mo [Kudus] playing close together as soon as we win the ball back we're firing away.

"We've really took to it the players and two really good performances because we don't play now for 12 days or something. It's like going into an international break, if you lose that game before an international break it's a long 12 days before the next one. We know now we can enjoy training and then look forward to the next game which is another tough one."

Leicester City

Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy told BBC Sport: "The difference between the first and second half [was big]. The whole first half we were going back instead of putting our opponents under pressure.

"We don't have too many results. Also in bottom three. We were too ive and too secure in our defensive organisation. We didn't press the opponent at all. The backline was too deep, the midfield too.

"The second half you have a totally different game but you've conceded two.

"Nothing at all [changed tactically at half-time]. The intensity of the players. Forwards pressing. The higher back line and midfielders following on the pressure of the forwards.

"That is the way forward literally.

"When you are ive and hope the opponent doesn't score, you call it upon yourself. The easy goals we conceded are a part of it."

On whether West Ham should have had the corner which led to the second goal: "Whether we touched it or not I don't care. It was not a corner but if you play as ive as we did, you call it up on yourself and these things happen.

"We are still in this fight. We're mathematically there. We will keep fighting as long as we can.

"It must be clear the fight was only one half today and that's not enough."

Leicester City

Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy speaking to TNT: "The goals you concede are easy goals. It's a reflection of how we played in the first half. If you see the difference in the first and the second half, how we as a team moved forward to press the opponent, play with urgency after winning duels, in the first half we were waiting way too much. We have to put the opponent under pressure in the right way."

On why there was not enough intensity in the first half: "We were way too ive. We are in a situation where we are not winning games and we are in a situation where we are in the bottom three. The pressure is on. The way to get out of this is to move forward literally on the pitch as well. It doesn't mean you have to go and press in a one v one situation, but we have to take initiative. We cannot wait and sit back. That is the situation we are in."

On another game without scoring: "If you play like this in the first half you are not going to score. We were not even close to scoring. In the second half we were much closer.

On how he keeps morale up: "By believing in work, in turning this around, by literally moving forward, not sitting back. That is what we need to do."

West Ham United

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen speaking to TNT Sports: "I wouldn't want to say comfortable because at 2-0 it's a difficult scoreline to manage. We knew they'd have a reaction in the second half. As much as you want, especially as an attacker, you want to go out and score three or four, you've got a job without the ball as well to keep a clean sheet. It's two clean sheets in a row, two really difficult games that we've had but different as well.

"I spoke to Coley [Joe Cole] in the week and said there's a lot of pressure to come and win tonight and as a group we've not won two in a row all season, that's not good enough for us and we knew coming here tonight we had to back up our performance that we done against Arsenal tonight and we've managed to do that.

"Tom [Soucek] with a goal, Fonz [Alphonse Areola] with a clean sheet, when I saw earlier they both got a birthday on the same day I thought it's a bit strange. For them it was really good, Fonz keeping a clean sheet, he didn't have loads to do but still had to stay in the game as well and playing out from the back it was important. I think he had one that I thought got stuck under his feet and I thought it was going to trickle in but Tom as well getting in the box and scoring. Everyone tonight really played their part."

West Ham United

West Ham boss Graham Potter told BBC Sport: "Feels good. It's not easy. The turnaround from the Arsenal game was not that long. Two efforts in five days is big for us. Two clean sheets, six points, delighted.

"The clean sheet was important. We have conceded too many goals this season. It's important to stem that. The collective effort do that was important.

"We controlled the first half and limited them.

"Overall we're delighted. A big win for us."

On Tomas Soucek's birthday goal: "He's done brilliant for us. Pops up with a goal, works hard. He can have some time over the weekend with his family and maybe have a nice dinner."

West Ham boss Graham Potter speaking to TNT: "The first half we were decent in our struture, we drove them back, had good control of the game. Overall it was a professional performance. Not fantastic, but we are delighted with two wins, two clean sheets and six points."

On back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time in a year: "We were aware of it for ths season but not for that long. Delighted for the players. They have been working really hard. Now they have two wins back-to-back which isn't easy in the Premier League."

On if he feels there is more to come from his players: "There is a lot of potential for sure. Talent is one thing. The foundations have to be good. Hopefully they are getting rewards because talent isn't enough in this league. You have to keep clean sheets, defend well, do the ugly side of the game well and the players have done that and got their rewards."

Tomas Soucek is one of just two players in Premier League history to score a goal on his birthday in two different years (also in 2022) along with Teddy Sheringham (2 April 1994 and 1995).

There is a thing called the Premier League's Goal Accreditation where a three-person decide if a goal should be awarded to someone else.

West Ham United

West Ham's Jarrod Bowen: "Every game when you hold onto a lead is always difficult. Coming into the game we knew we hadn't won back-to-back all season. That was on our minds, to come and win and win again. We played well against Arsenal and got the result but it counted for nothing if we didn't show up tonight. We don't play now for 12 days so it was really good to win tonight."

On his goal being given as a Jannik Vestergaard own goal: "What defender wants an own goal? No defender wants an own goal. I shot at goal and it took a deflection and it went in. If they want to give it back, I'm more than happy. Official appeal, it's four yards out. Defenders don't want own goals on their CV and us attackers want them. I'm not begging, but from that close I don't think you can give an own goal."

On timing of second goal before the break: "Really important. To get that two-goal cushion put us in a good place for the second half. We knew there was going to be a reaction and it was important for us to manage the game."

On returning to winning ways at home: "We know we have had a few games this seaosn where we haven't been good enough and haven't turned up. There was a lot of pressure on us to win the game but we had to go out with the same attitude against Arsenal. It was a different test but it was a difficult test tonight."

West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek speaking to TNT Sports: "Thank you, it was a great birthday because [a] birthday is big and after this I just wanted to win and with a goal is even better so it's a nice gift that I could get.

"Even for him [Alphonse Areola] his clean sheet we can celebrate now because we play football this is our dream and we got what we wanted.

"It was really important because we knew we played very well at Arsenal away but we need to have this consistency, we wanted to win for our fans at home because the spirits can go up and we just need to build on this result. I am so happy."

On Graham Potter's impact: "It's tough to have this big impact in the half of the season but i think in these last two games what we showed we showed, good spirit, good team effort.

"I could see in the first half it was a very good performance, in the second we did a few mistakes but still we won 2-0 and it was a great result. I think that even this can help our manager believe in what were doing and we are all so grateful for him.

"We know that the season is tough, this season we just want to stay as high as possible. We know we can challenge some big teams. Manchester United, Tottenham are around us. Even for West Ham fans it's a big derby with Tottenham so we want to be better than them."

Leicester’s Jannik Vestergaard is just the third player to score an own-goal on his 100th Premier League appearance, after Jonathan Walters for Stoke v Chelsea in January 2013 and Gareth McAuley for West Brom v Stoke in May 2014.

West Ham are 10 points off the European places. Probably not enough time left to make up that gap on so many teams.

Leicester remain five points in the relegation zone. A good run of Wolves form could end any bottom three uncertainty in the next few weeks.

West Ham are 16 points clear of Ipswich and Leicester so obviously don't have to look over their shoulders at all.

As for Ruud van Nistelrooy, it's a real poor display from his Leicester side.

Leicester have lost 11 of their last 12 Premier League games.

In his 14 games in charge, Ruud van Nistelrooy has picked up just seven points, three fewer than previous Foxes boss Steve Cooper managed this season (10 in 12 games).

Limp Leicester remain five points adrift of safety.
